Basics of the Ontario Security Guard Test

The Ontario Security Guard Test is a mandatory evaluation administered on behalf of the Ministry of the Solicitor General by Serco Canada Inc. This test is an essential requirement for all aspiring security guards following their training.

The test comprises 60 multiple-choice questions, which originate from the official training curriculum and are to be completed within a 75-minute window.

Serco Canada Inc. facilitates these tests at various DriveTest Centres across Ontario.

Booking Your Test: A Step-by-Step Guide

To register for the Ontario Security Guard Test, you first need a Testing Completion Number (TCN) from your training provider.

This number serves as proof of your completed training. You can book your test online, where you'll also find information about payment options, testing locations, instructions, procedures, and more.

Booking Requirements

To book and take the test, you must meet the following criteria:

• Completion of mandatory training with an MCSCS-identified provider.
• Possession of an Ontario testing completion number from your provider.

Please note, if you aim to obtain a dual license (security guard and private investigator), you need to successfully complete two separate tests. Usually, these tests are taken on different days. Once a test is booked, it cannot be rescheduled or cancelled, and the test fee is non-refundable.

Payment Details

Each test costs CDN $35.00 plus 13% HST, totaling $39.55.

This fee does not include the ServiceOntario licensing fee.

Payment can be made online using Visa, MasterCard, or American Express, or a pre-paid MasterCard or Visa Vanilla card.

Upon successful booking, you'll receive an online and email confirmation/receipt.
